Building a Platform for the Future
Earlier this year we partnered with the UK’s leading Energy provider to deliver the largest SaaS migration in utility history. The objective was straightforward yet ambitious: transform outdated software into a modern, cloud-native SaaS platform that would streamline operations, improve customer experience, and enable new avenues for product innovation.
To deliver this ambitious project, this SAAS company needed to expand rapidly and scale up their workforce to ensure they could build a robust platform and execute this historic transformation. The challenge was not just about finding skilled individuals, but also about assembling a cohesive, talented team capable of thriving in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Applying YNH Strategic Frameworks
To ensure the team had the right people in place, we leveraged several frameworks from the YNH Toolbox, each designed to address specific pain points in scaling teams:
Impact Alignment:
We conducted a deep technical dive to outline the skills, traits, and characteristics of the ideal candidate for each role.
Impact assessments for each candidate allowed the business to make informed decisions by showcasing practical strengths and weaknesses. This ensured that every hire was not only skilled but also capable of having a demonstrable impact, reducing time to productivity.
Role-Level Value Proposition:
We collaborated closely with each team, working with each tribe and squad to develop tailored value propositions for the roles.
It was critical to paint an honest picture for candidates—highlighting both the opportunities and challenges they would face. This transparency increased engagement and retention by ensuring a mutual fit, which aligned with the company goal of fostering a culture of growth and resilience.
Proactive Diversity Pathways:
Diversity was a significant priority, especially for a project requiring innovative solutions. We developed proactive diversity pathways, targeting both passive and active talent pools within underrepresented groups.
This approach ensured each team had access to the best talent for their budget, improved diversity in hiring shortlists, and helped to build a sustainable, equitable hiring process.
Employee Voice:
Retention was key to maintaining the momentum of the project. We gathered honest, unfiltered feedback from employees, helping ENSEK identify potential bottlenecks, cultural misalignments, and growth opportunities. This feedback extended beyond the hiring process and helped ENSEK build a healthier and more resilient company culture, ensuring that key hires stayed engaged.
Pixel perfect delivery
We successfully helped ENSEK hire for 50 critical roles across Product, Technology, and Service Delivery. Our focused approach resulted in an average time to hire of 21 days, an 84% offer acceptance rate from the first shortlist, and an impressive 94.7% placement retention rate. These results underscored our commitment to delivering the right people, in the right roles, at the right time.
Acquisition
Following the success of this partnership, the business was later acquired, to further strengthen their capabilities in delivering customer-centric energy solutions. This acquisition marks another step forward in their digital transformation journey, leveraging innovative technology to enhance service delivery and drive new growth opportunities.
This partnership has not only set the stage for transforming customer service in the energy sector but also showcased the impact of assembling the right team to tackle significant challenges. As each business continues to innovate and expand its digital offerings, we remain committed to providing the talent and expertise required to achieve these ambitious goals.
